"The Laughing Seed Cafe was started in 1991 by Joan and Joe Eckert. Originally a small lunch counter on the lower level of the local YMCA, we moved to our current location on Asheville’s historic Wall St in June of 1993, where we were one of the first businesses to spearhead the downtown Renaissance of this beautiful city in the Blue Ridge mountains."

A vegetarian cafe in the heart of Asheville, many things can be made vegan or come vegan. Also serves cocktails, wine, and beer.

Highlighted Dishes

Bahn Mi - $10

A Vietnamese-style sub with marinated seitan, kimchee, pickled carrots, cucumbers, daikon, cilantro sprigs, and spicy mayo, served in a whole wheat wrap.

Thai Panang Curry - $15

Sauteed seasonal vegetables, crispy fried seitan, and Panang curry sauce served with jasmine rice, and mung sprouts.

Harmony Bowl - $13/$15

Organic brown rice, black beans, grilled marinated tofu, steamed vegetables, and sesame-ginger sauce.
